Dog Obedience Training & Boarding Services

San Antonio Dog Training

A BETTER DOG TRAINING serves the entire San Antonio region and we believe that when looking for a dog trainer or training program, experience counts.  We have the experience to meet your training needs and resolve your pet issues using our proven training methods.

For a happy, healthy, and well-behaved dog, proper training is critical. There are considerable responsibilities involved in training any dog properly and a well-behaved dog requires commitment from the owner. Oftentimes, the owner feels overwhelmed by the time and effort involved. However, after you learn with us, you will be able to maintain optimal obedience with minimal time and effort!

Our in-home programs teach you to be your dog’s pack leader utilizing psychology, structure, and clear communication. We will teach you the structure that your dog needs and how to live with him or her in such a way that you will always have his or her respect and attention. Each session will be individualized and tailored to fit your specific needs and the learning style for you and your dog.

Training does not have to be a negative thing.  Using love, affection, and praise, you will create a friendship to motivate your dog, AND you’ll earn your new best friend’s respect, trust and obedience.  In addition to teaching obedience, our methods strengthen communication skills while building a trusting and respectful relationship between you and your dog.

Rescue and Adoption

Jan became involved in the dog rescue world about 10 years ago and personally has two rescue dogs. She has volunteered her time at several local shelters, not only teaching the staff and volunteers how to train basic behaviors, but also working with special cases herself.

Rescue dogs need and deserve normalcy in their lives. Normalcy to a dog is leadership. All rescue dogs need strength, consistency, and guidance in order to become just a dog and a family member, not a rescue.

When Jan moved to her present location, she inherited a feral cat colony. After attending seminars given by the San Antonio Feral Cat Coalition, she has been working diligently to get them all spayed and neutered.

Looking to Adopt?

Jan currently has two foster dogs available for adoption:

Dogs for Adoption in San Antonio TXPolo is an 8 year old, 60 lb Blue Heeler mix that is neutered and up to date on his vaccinations. This handsome boy is extremely well-behaved. Polo adores people and gets along with house cats, but needs to be the only dog in a home without outdoor cats. He is content to be a couch potato & loves a good belly rub, but does best with plenty of physical activity. He loves nothing more than a good game of fetch. If Polo sounds like the perfect fit for your family, please contact us.

Adopt A Dog in San Antonio TXThis boy was found in the Schertz area and we have been unable to find his owner.  Sweet Houdini is quiet and a bit shy  at first. He is ~5 years old, weighs ~50 lbs, is neutered, house-trained, & up to date on his vaccinations. He gets along with medium and large-sized dogs as well as inside cats. Please contact us for more information.
